2002-2004: Worked as a RA in the Cellular Immunology Laboratory at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, Brisbane, Australia , under the supervision of Associate Professor Scott Burrows. This work specialised in the functional ex vivo and in vitro analysis of the human CD8+ T cell response to Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV).

2004-2008: Completed a PhD in Immunology at UQ; studying externally at QIMR under the supervisions of Associate Professor Scott Burrows and Dr Sharon Silins. This research centred on the genetics, function and repertoire of the human T cell receptor (TCR) during health and disease. Disease models included EBV, cytomegalovirus (CMV) and human hepatitis C virus (HCV). This functional worked was complemented with structural and biophysical collaborations at Monash University and the University of Melbourne, Australia.
